Kirkcaldy Speakers Club
About us
Sometime in 1983 an advert appeared in the local paper inviting ladies to a meeting, with a view to forming a Speakers Club.
Around 20 ladies responded. A club was born and named Kirkcaldy District Ladies Speakers Club to show that members came from several towns.
Regular meetings began in 1984 in Anthony's Hotel . Ladies clubs were then only 'affiliated' members of the gentlemen's ASC and had their own club rules and constitution. Annual speech competitions were held in Perth with Musselburgh, Caledonia, Broughty Ferry, Perth and Dundee Ladies clubs competing.
In 1990 Ladies clubs became full members of the Association of Speakers Clubs, a national organisation of around 200 clubs throughout the United Kingdom. The Association exists to improve the art of speaking in public, and to promote, encourage and develop proficiency in the spoken word. We visit other ASC clubs in Fife. Every year, we host an annual dinner, where we are pleased to welcome members from Fife Clubs and clubs from further afield. Also we celebrate a summer outing, and our Christmas party is an event not to be missed!
We are now open to men and women of all ages. "Kirkcaldy Speakers Club" welcomes you to join us for interesting and entertaining evenings, improving your speaking and presentation skills for business or pleasure, as well as making new friends.
Why not join us for a free taster session - with no obligation for you to join? The current annual membership fee is £60.
